Family and Community Education Clubs (FCE)

Welcome To TAFCE!

For more than 75 years, a network of friends in communities across the state has shared these common goals:

  • to learn through shared experience,
  • to improve home and community life,
  • to strengthen adult education,
  • to promote projects that enhance family and community life.

Through our rich history, we have grown from small community clubs to a worldwide network focused on growth through education. You may recognize us by some of our earlier names: Home Demonstration Clubs and Extension Homemakers.

There are two FCE Clubs in DeKalb County. The two clubs meet once per month in Smithville and Alexandria. Smithville meets the second Tuesday of each month at 10 am at the County Complex Bldg UT Room. The Alexandria club meets the third Wednesday of each month at 2 pm at the Alexandria Senior Center.

We invite everyone to visit a FCE Club of their choice. At the club you will find friends, fun and fellowship along with a strong community commitment. They are positioned around the county so that one or another should be convenient for you to attend. The FCE Clubs meet monthly and host various events throughout the year. Over the years the FCE Clubs have completed many projects for the community and family. These clubs are a vital asset to DeKalb County. They have a lot to offer to members young and old. If you are looking for a club that cares about the community that you live, cares about its members and can offer you skills and experiences, then we would love to have you as a FCE member! The clubs are open to everyone so bring a friend. If you would like more information about the FCE Clubs, give April Martin, UT Extension Agent, a call at the DeKalb County Extension Office at
